my name is chiara patrassi, and i am an architect. my name is alexandra bernaudin, and i am an architect too. we met at philippe starck’s agency, and following this experience, we created our own agency. we called it nido because we wanted a simple word easily understandable in any language, in order to work abroad. nido means nest, in italian. a nest is comfort.

the goal of architecture is to create comfort for humans, from time immemorial. so this name seemed quite good to us. we are trained architects, nevertheless, our career path led us to develop wide competences: architecture, interior design, decoration, search or custom furniture design. our committed stance is to create unique projects for unique customers. we like to combine edited products

but also ancient products and antiques, it's more heartful. we also like to customize the products we found, adding details, changing fabrics, etc. we worked and travelled abroad a lot. we are kind of architecture “globe-trotters”. not everything is overpriced. we can do things very well with very reasonable budgets. this is the renovation of an 1860 mansion.

due to the configuration of the apartment, we had to make radical choices. there were no bathrooms in the apartment, so we had to create some. in a very large entrance, we created a kitchen like if it was a bar, quite radical. the contrast between this red and stainless steel bar and the traditional mouldings is quite interesting. however we attempted to preserve the existing

and interesting details as much as possible. unlike for the mansion, the customers who bought this apartment especially asked us to work on colours. because the apartment was already in good condition, but a little characterless. our entire reflection consisted in working on colours, with a quite strong black & white contrast, which became a guiding principle throughout the apartment.

hence, like a puzzle, we chose the furniture, very personal and contemporary, in addition to the project. this is a rather decorative project focused on searching for furniture. the most important thing for us is to create comfort. it is necessary that people feel good at home especially in residential buildings. architecture is life.
