hi and welcome back on ebeno's woodshop today i'll begin a new project about making a coffe table out of ash wood it seems to be simple, but there are lots of pieces. it's going to take time. i have my sheet with dimensions, so we can begin to cut all those pieces that i need. to cut it, i marked all pieces with a pencil and i use my circular saw. i don't have a good band saw to do this job it's better to do this outside because it's realy dusty. here it is.. one saw horse less.

don't buy this kind of saw horse... back into the workshop, and now i know what i'm gonna build soon. here are the table top pieces. i cut all my pieces i'll let it move for maybe few days before plane it some pieces are realy deformed, i have to plane it by hand a little before using the planer it tooks one week to plane all the pieces, because this planer is really bad for big pieces like those. it was a long work

i bought a new thicknesser to be more efficient the new thicknesser ! those kind of thicknesser are really good, but sometimes you'll have snipes. to avoid this i put all my parts one after the others here i cut all parts at the right width those parts are the 4 feet. after lots of works i can begin the real work. i have all my parts, all sleepers here is the futur top

i'll glue it together here is all parts for the feet i'll gue it together here are the sleepers and everything for the drawer i'm ready to work i'll begin to glue the feet and make the mortises after i'll make the tenons during this project i'll let the glue dry for 24h before removing clamps i'm removing the excess of glue

i just clean it on the thicknesser to be sure that it's square i square one end i'll mark the mortise with my drawing knife and i'll make it on the router table i'll choose my router bit i use the router bit to set up my marking gauge i won't touch this marking gauge now i prefer to use a drawing knife instead of pencil, it's more efficient i had a battery issue with my camera...

i'll explain you how i made this mortises i marked on the fence where i have to begin the mortise and i set up a stop block to where i have to stop. i'll use a chisel to square it here it is, a squared mortise to mark the tenons i use clamps so i can mark the both at the same time i'll use it to set up my tenon jig, and i'll test the fit before making the others i advise you to often test the fit when everything is good i chamfer the edges now i'll make the inside mortises

i juste the hand free router to make thoses mortises i'll clean it with a chisel after i'm making some grooves. it'll help me to tie the top at the end i chamfer the four feet time to send and glue again anoter battery issue. i just made the inside tenons in the same way than before i'll make the groove to insert the drawer support i use clamp to draw all the cutting marks one the drawer support it's not so easy to make little mortises. be sure to tight your vice

if everything is square we can glue it together i'll make the drawer front before gluing everything, it's easier in this way to cut the drawer front i use this multicutter. it allows to get a thin cut i decided to dry glue everything just to see if everything is square and if there is still mistakes which i can remove before gluing i sand everything again. we can now glue everything i can't glue everything in one time because i need more clamps. so i glue it in two times here is it, i finished the structure in the next video i'll make the top and the drawer.

hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching
